Freedom Through Faith Alone

Freedom Through Faith Alone

Finding Victory in Jesus Christ

Many people today are searching for freedom. Some are bound by addictions. Others are trapped in guilt, shame, or fear. No matter what form the chains take, the truth remains the same: real freedom is not found in the world—it is found through faith alone in Jesus Christ.

The world offers temporary relief, but God offers total release. That’s why at Delivered Overcomers, a Christ-centered addiction recovery program at Bible Baptist Church in Crossville, Tennessee, we believe that freedom through faith alone is the only path that truly works.

1. Bondage Begins With Sin

Before anyone can experience freedom, they must understand what binds them. The Bible says in Romans 6:16,

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey…?”

Addiction begins with a choice, but it quickly becomes a chain. Whether it's alcohol, drugs, pornography, gambling, or anger, sin enslaves. It promises pleasure, but it delivers pain. It offers control, but it takes it away.

Jesus said in John 8:34, “Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.”

That’s why addiction recovery isn’t just about quitting a habit. It’s about being delivered from spiritual bondage. And that deliverance only comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

2. Religion Can’t Set You Free

Too many people believe that going to church or trying harder will fix their problems. But the Bible is clear: religion without faith won’t save youEphesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”

You can’t earn freedom. You can’t buy peace. You can’t work your way into a new life. You must believe—believe that Jesus died for your sins, rose again, and is able to set you free. That’s why our motto at Delivered Overcomers is simple: “We are not just recovering. We are being delivered—by faith alone in Christ alone.”

3. Jesus Is the Only Way to Freedom

There is only one path to true liberty, and His name is Jesus. John 14:6 says,“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

When Jesus died on the cross, He broke the power of sin. When He rose from the grave, He conquered death and hell. Now, all who believe in Him can be saved—and set free. John 8:36 proclaims,

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

That’s real freedom. That’s not just behavior change. That’s heart change.

4. Faith Changes Your Identity

The world may call you an addict, but when you trust Christ, God calls you a new creature.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

At Delivered Overcomers, we’ve seen men and women who once lived in darkness now walk in the light. They are not defined by their past. They are defined by their position in Christ.

Through faith, they’ve found not just recovery—but redemption

5. Faith Brings Daily Strength

Faith doesn’t just save you ... it keeps you strong every day. Galatians 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Addiction recovery isn’t a one-time decision. It’s a daily walk. It’s waking up every morning and saying, “Lord, I can’t do this on my own. I need You.” And He gives grace.  2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

6. God’s Word Builds Your Faith

Faith doesn’t come from feelings. It comes from God’s Word. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” That’s why at Delivered Overcomers, we teach the King James Bible every week. The Word of God is the foundation for lasting change. It renews the mind. It strengthens the spirit. It reminds us who we are and what we’ve been given. When you build your life on Scripture, your faith will grow—and your chains will fall.

7. Fellowship Encourages Your Faith

Faith can feel hard when you’re walking alone. That’s why God gave us the church. We need each other.

Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together… but exhorting one another.” When you join with others in faith—especially others who understand the struggle—you find strength you didn’t know you had.

Delivered Overcomers is not just a program. It’s a family. It’s a safe place to grow, be honest, and be reminded that you’re not fighting this battle alone.

8. Victory Is Promised by Faith

Freedom is not just possible—it’s promised to those who believe. 1 John 5:4 says, “And this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” No matter how strong the chain, no matter how deep the pit, faith in Jesus Christ is enough. Not because of who we are—but because of who He is.

The world may doubt. Your flesh may fail. But your faith in Christ will carry you from defeat to victory.
